Country Manager, Insurance, Italy
Simona Fumagalli was appointed Country Manager, Insurance, Italy at Sompo in June 2023. Based in Milan, she is responsible for leading Sompo’s Italian operations, with oversight of underwriting performance, market development and local business strategy.
Ms Fumagalli has more than 20 years of experience in the insurance and reinsurance industry, with a strong focus on financial lines, professional liability, and international underwriting.
Prior to joining Sompo, she served as Head of Financial Lines EMEA at Aon. She previously held several senior leadership roles at AXA XL. Earlier in her career, Ms Fumagalli held underwriting and technical leadership positions at XL Catlin, Zurich Insurance Group and ACE, and began her career at Marsh in risk financing.
Ms Fumagalli holds a Bachelor’s degree in International Economics from Università Commerciale Luigi Bocconi.
