Head of Marine & Specialty, Insurance, Continental Europe
René Huber was appointed Head of Marine & Specialty, Insurance, Continental Europe at Sompo in June 2023. In this role, Mr Huber is responsible for developing Sompo’s Marine & Specialty underwriting and distribution strategy, sustainably growing the book and building a strong team across Europe.
Mr Huber has more than 30 years of experience in international insurance, with a strong focus on specialty and marine products and global programs.
He joined Sompo from AXA XL, where he led the development and management of complex global insurance solutions for multinational P&C clients. Earlier in his career, he held senior underwriting and leadership roles within marine and specialty insurance, including international responsibilities across Europe, Asia-Pacific and Latin America.
Mr Huber holds a Swiss Federal Diploma in Insurance and has completed advanced studies in enterprise risk management.
