Head of Claims, Insurance, Iberia
Mayte Alonso Rizaldos was appointed Head of Claims, Insurance, Iberia at Sompo in July 2024. Based in Madrid, she is responsible for leading the claims function across the region, overseeing claims strategy across multiple lines of business.
Ms Alonso Rizaldos has 30 years of experience in the insurance industry, with deep expertise in liability and financial lines claims, including complex and high‑volume portfolios.
She joined Sompo from Everest Insurance, where she served as Claims Manager for Spain. Prior to this, she spent more than a decade at AIG in senior claims leadership roles, including Head of Claims Iberia. Earlier in her career, Ms Alonso Rizaldos worked in the United States with Chubb Specialty Insurance and held claims management roles at Chubb Insurance Company of Europe.
She holds a degree in Law from Universidad Autónoma de Madrid.
