Head of Risk Control, Continental Europe
Malwine Tewes was appointed Head of Risk Control, Insurance, Continental Europe at Sompo in May 2024. She is responsible for the design and delivery of risk control programs across Sompo’s property and casualty offerings with oversight of the Risk Control team located throughout Continental Europe.
Ms Tewes has more than 23 years of industry experience spanning commercial insurance, risk engineering, and in-house risk management. She joined Sompo from Swiss Re, where she was supporting industrial property insurance and complex corporate accounts.
Prior to this, she held senior engineering and leadership roles at FM Insurance Europe and Bombardier, where she led global risk engineering and insurance activities across aerospace and transportation operations.
Ms Tewes holds a Diplom-Ingenieur degree in Civil Engineering from the Karlsruher Institut für Technologie and has completed professional insurance and underwriting qualifications in Germany and the United Kingdom.
