Julian Karlubian joined Sompo in May 2018 as Western Zone Leader, Commercial Management Liability (CML), based in Los Angeles.
He is responsible for leading underwriting strategy and portfolio development across the region. He also holds national responsibilities within CML, including supporting oversight of the Special Situations Group, which focuses on underwriting complex accounts across the division.
Mr Karlubian has 28 years of insurance industry experience, with expertise spanning underwriting, management and business development. He has led the growth of the Western Zone team and portfolio while strengthening relationships across internal and external stakeholders. During that time, the regional staff in the Western Zone has grown from four Underwriters to a team of fifteen.
Prior to this, he held management roles at AXIS and AIG. Mr Karlubian has spent his career in the Western Zone Management Liability market, building longstanding relationships across Los Angeles and Southern California.
