Head of Casualty, Insurance, Germany & Austria
Heike Westerwinter was appointed Head of Casualty, Insurance, Germany & Austria at Sompo in July 2024, based in Cologne. In this role, she is responsible for leading the Casualty portfolio across both markets.
Ms Westerwinter has more than 30 years of insurance industry experience, with a strong focus on liability insurance, including complex industrial risks and financial lines. Her career spans both primary insurance and reinsurance, with extensive international experience across Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Eastern Europe, Israel, the United Kingdom and the United States.
Prior to joining Sompo, she held senior underwriting and management roles at ERGO Group AG, General Reinsurance AG and HDI Global SE, as well as leadership positions in Austria and Germany.
Ms Westerwinter holds a Diploma in Business Administration from Fachhochschule Köln, specializing in liability insurance and reinsurance.
