Head of Property, Insurance, Germany & Austria
Falk A. Schmaler was appointed Head of Property, Insurance, Germany & Austria at Sompo in April 2024. In this role, he is responsible for leading the Property and Energy portfolios across both markets, with oversight of underwriting strategy, portfolio management, and market development.
Mr Schmaler has more than 25 years of insurance and reinsurance industry experience, with a strong focus on property, energy and large corporate risks. He has held senior leadership and underwriting roles across Europe, the Middle East, and North America.
Mr Schmaler holds a Diploma in Business Administration with a specialization in Risk Engineering from the University of Applied Sciences Cologne.
