Elena Talegón was appointed Head of Marine, Insurance, Iberia at Sompo in December 2023. Based in Madrid, she is responsible for leading the Marine underwriting portfolio across Spain and Portugal.
Ms Talegón has more than 20 years of experience in the insurance industry, with deep expertise in marine insurance and reinsurance. Prior to joining Sompo, she spent more than 12 years at RSA as a Senior Marine Underwriter, managing complex marine programs and supporting long-term portfolio development.
Earlier in her career, she held marine brokerage roles at Aon Risk Solutions and Cooper Gay, where she worked closely with corporate clients and international markets, gaining extensive experience across underwriting, broking and client advisory functions.
Ms Talegón holds a Master of Business Administration from IE (Instituto de Empresa) and a degree in Business Administration from Universidad Complutense de Madrid.
