Head of Claims, Insurance, Germany & Austria
Björn Fehre was appointed Head of Claims, Insurance, Germany & Austria at Sompo in May 2024, based in Cologne. In this role, he is responsible for leading the claims function across both markets, with oversight of claims strategy, operational governance, and complex claims management across multiple lines of business.
Mr Fehre has more than 17 years of experience in the insurance industry, with a strong background in claims management, financial lines and Cyber. Before joining Sompo, he held senior claims leadership positions at Chubb in Germany.
Prior to that, he spent nearly a decade in private practice, specializing in commercial law as well as banking and capital markets law. His career in the industry has focused on managing complex claims portfolios and supporting effective collaboration between underwriting, legal, and client-facing teams.
Mr Fehre is a fully qualified lawyer and holds a State Examination in Law from the University of Hamburg.
