Country Manager, Insurance, Belgium & Netherlands
Bart Van Gysegem was appointed Country Manager, Insurance, Belgium & the Netherlands at Sompo in June 2026. In this role, he is responsible for leading the company’s operations and market strategy across both countries.
Mr Van Gysegem has more than 30 years of experience in the insurance industry, with a focus on the Benelux region. He has held senior leadership roles across sales, distribution and client management, with responsibility for major accounts and complex client programmes.
Prior to joining Sompo, he spent almost a decade with a global insurance brokerage in senior leadership roles. Earlier in his career, he held regional sales and distribution positions with a multinational insurer, with responsibilities spanning Belgium, France, Luxembourg and the Netherlands. He began his career in executive protection and financial lines underwriting with an international specialty insurer.
