Chief Underwriting Officer, Insurance, Continental Europe
Angela Weiss was appointed Chief Underwriting Officer, Insurance, Continental Europe at Sompo in June 2025. In this role, she has underwriting responsibility across the region. Ms Weiss previously served as Head of Property & Energy Insurance, Continental Europe at Sompo.
Ms Weiss has extensive insurance industry experience across underwriting, portfolio management and risk engineering. She has held senior leadership roles with Zurich Insurance, AXA Corporate Solutions and FM Global, with responsibility for Property, Marine, Engineering and Energy lines across SME, mid-market and large corporate segments.
Her career includes regional and international leadership roles across Continental Europe, with a focus on managing and building commercial insurance business portfolios, underwriting discipline portfolio performance and technical risk expertise.
Ms Weiss holds a Master’s Degree (Dipl.-Ing.) in Civil Engineering from the Technische Hochschule Georg Simon Ohm at Nürnberg.
