SINGAPORE – October 16, 2024 – Sompo, a leading global provider of commercial and consumer property and casualty (re)insurance, today announced the appointment of Maya Dongyoung Lee as Chief Operating Officer, Asia Pacific (APAC), effective immediately.
In her new role, Ms Lee will be responsible for leading Sompo’s APAC Operations, including operational excellence and resilience, transformation and project management, and building its operational footprint and roadmap across APAC, in addition to developing talent and capabilities across the region.
Ms Lee will report to Daniel Englberger, Chief Operating Officer, Sompo International Holdings and Kenneth Reilly, Chief Executive Officer, Insurance, APAC. She will join the APAC executive team and will be based in Singapore.
Mr Englberger said: “Maya is an outstanding hire for Sompo. Her exceptional track record for leading organizational change at several global businesses makes her perfectly placed to develop and execute the next stage of the operations and transformation strategy in our APAC region.”
Mr Reilly said: “I am excited to welcome Maya to our APAC leadership team. She brings with her a wealth of global experience both from a consulting and insurance industry perspective. I am confident Maya will drive operational effectiveness and excellence, as well as process architecture governance across our entire APAC business.”
Ms Lee joins Sompo from Manulife and worked previously at PWC and MetLife where she successfully led transformation programs and initiatives.
She holds a Master of Business Administration from Yonsei University.
