Les Bunney joined Sompo in March 2026 as VP, Railroad, where he is responsible for Railroad underwriting activities.

Mr Bunney has more than 15 years of insurance industry experience, with expertise in railroad and specialty underwriting.

Prior to joining Sompo, he held a series of underwriting leadership roles, including VP, Railroad, AVP, Railroad and Senior Underwriter within the railroad sector.

Earlier in his career, he served as a Senior Underwriter at Liberty International Underwriters, where he gained extensive experience in commercial risk assessment and underwriting.

Mr Bunney has worked throughout his career in the US insurance market, focusing on transportation and specialty risks.
